Dear Gabrielle,
In pagan and Wiccan observance, Beltane, also known as May Day, is the celebration of spring, celebrated at the start of May. Each season has its own holiday – Midsummer is Lughnasa, the start of winter is Samhain (better known these days as Halloween) and the end of winter/start of spring (at least, that’s what is hoped will happen) is Imbolc, also observed on Feb. 1 by Christians as St. Brigid’s Day.
