Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Reviews

Do you ever get that urge to start a new book but are stymied by the fact that you don’t know what book to read? At Buzzy Mag, you can read sci-fi book and fantasy book reviews that will help you make those critical reading decisions. With close to 150 book reviews published and counting, you’re sure to find something worth reading (or, at the very least, worth avoiding).

Here are some questions and answers to help you get started in your search for book reviews.

Where Can I Find the Book Reviews on Buzzy?

Just hover over the “Reviews” link in the top bar. Better yet, click here.

How Can I Find a Review of a Specific Book?

If we have it, you can find it with the custom search box in the upper right. Keep in mind we mostly review science fiction books, so we may not have reviews of books in other genres.

What Kind of Books Do You Review?

At Buzzy, we like to keep our focus on the speculative genres, so we include horror, fantasy and science fiction book reviews. We tend to only accept reviews of newer books, with release dates in the past 3 months. That being said, we’ve collected many reviews over the years, so we have reviews posted for books going as far back as 2008.

What Kind of Information Do You Include in Your Reviews?

Rather than boil down our reviews to a numerical or star rating system, we prefer reviews that give an in-depth look at the world of the book without giving too much away.
Generally speaking, each review offers an introduction to the story universe and comments on the book’s tone and themes (so you can see if you like what the story is about), all the while interspersing that information with opinions on the book’s pros and cons. Reviews can also include information regarding the author’s other works if they’re relevant, as well as the book’s influence on a genre.

Are Your Book Reviews Spoiler-Free?

Yes. Our book reviews introduce you to the plot without giving away any surprises or ruining twist endings.

Do You Review Other Things Besides Books?

Our book review section focuses on written work, but not all of it is conventional. Outside of print and paper novels we also accept reviews of works of interactive fiction and graphic novels including manga. We also have entirely separate sections for movie and TV reviews.

Do You Post Other Content About Books Besides Reviews?

We frequently do author interviews with well known science fiction and fantasy writers like Brandon Sanderson, Terry Brooks and Jim Butcher.
There is also an entire section of our site dedicated to articles about Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files. It’s a personal favorite series here at Buzzy. You’ll have to forgive us if we go on about it.

Who Can Submit a Book Review?

Anyone can! Visit our submissions page for more info.

Who Can Read Your Book Reviews?

All the content at Buzzy Mag is free to anyone who wants to read it. If you find a review you like, you can send the link to a friend and they can read it, too!

How Can I Make Sure I Never Miss a New Book Review?

You can use our email subscription box on the right-hand sidebar. We’ll let you know when new articles, including book reviews, get uploaded to our site.

If you’re a fan of Speculative Fiction and you love reading sci-fi, fantasy, and horror books, stay a while and get a recommendation from your friends here at Buzzy. If you have any questions you can always email us at info@buzzymag(dot)com.

Sara Bellum
The name's Sara Bellum, and I'm the editor-at-large here at BuzzyMag - the hostess with the mostess, if you will. I like to think that my first calling is fighting crime and delivering a heaping dose of sweet, sweet justice to all manner of thugs, miscreants, hoodlums, ruffians, and ne'er-do-wells, but unfortunately, violent vigilantism doesn't exactly pay big bucks these days.

Times are tough, my friends, and I've got bills to pay, so I decided to put my encyclopedic knowledge of all things sci-fi & fantasy-related to use to help me land a day job. To tell you the truth, it's kind of a nice change of pace. My manicures have been lasting a bit longer lately.
