Are the current Syfy series WAREHOUSE 13 and the older syndicated show
FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE SERIES related to one another?

Dear J.F. –
While there is now official (i.e., credited) connection between the two shows, FRIDAY THE 13th: THE SERIES dealt with an antique shop where the three proprietors were trying to retrieve a variety of cursed objects from the store, each with different properties. WAREHOUSE 13 (so dubbed because the current warehouse is the thirteenth of its kind in history) houses a variety of artifacts, each with special powers that can be deadly in the wrong hands, with characters who work at/for the Warehouse who are in charge of retrieving artifacts that turn up in the outside world. The similar premises suggest that the earlier show may have provided some inspiration for the latter.
