Nope. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT mythology is entirely the creation of writers/directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez. The movie’s online promotional campaign had the distinction of proving that online promotion worked, something that hadn’t really been tried before BLAIR’s 1999 theatrical release. The promos were also believed by a number of viewers to be genuine found footage, instead of something made by the filmmakers. The very success of BLAIR WITCH PROJECT has made it difficult for subsequent “found footage” projects to persuade viewers that they’re real.
